Dee Brown Reincarnated!

Though it was widely thought that Dee Brown, formerly of the Boston Celtics, was gone from NBA basketball forever after his somewhat embarassing return for the Orlando Magic for a stint in 2002. However, it appears that his protege(or perhaps clone?), Dee Brown, has simply been waiting in the wings to take over for ODB(old-Dee Brown). New Dee Brown has a snappier haircut, upgraded 3P%, and I hear he's a darn nice guy, too.

For a quick comparison, ODB's stats for his rookie year are looking strong compared to the clone, especially in the rebound department. However, Dee Brown Jr. is no slouch, so be on the lookout for him on fantasy draft night!

Strangely, Dee Brown is not listed as a similar player to Dee Brown by basketballreference.com despite the fact that they share the same name. That's enough in my book.

I'm game

Pun only slightly intended. I like the idea of collaborating on a variety of creative endeavors and think we should hop to it. Aside from what has been mentioned, I also suggest the following:

- ideas for short films that could potentially be executed in a day/weekend
- coming up with tv show pilot ideas a la Channel102.net
- "fake" songs and the music videos to accompany
- fictional short stories
- Flash movies incorporating any of the above and previously suggested
- versions of the above that require narration instead of dialogue (at times at least)

I've been re-watching some Arrested Development (surprise, surprise) and The Venture Bros. lately, and they've both been pretty inspiring to collaborate and work on ideas and see where they lead. I think I'd be hard pressed to find a more cohesive group of creative minds so I say we see what we're capable of.

A warm-up proposal

Just to warm up and to show our combined power, I thought it might be fun to create a Breakout-style game. (Breakout AKA Brickles, Arkanoid, Alleyway, etc.) Not just a lame version like the one linked to, but one on par with a Super Nintendo version. Powerups, cool graphics, music, explosions, special bricks, etc. I think it would be pretty easy. If we wanted, we could seriously have this game done in a week or two. The game could have a particular 'theme' or 'look' about it - maybe the ball could be a George Bush or... Steve Irwin face or something. (Is that too disrespectful?)

Collaborate and Listen

So here's an idea. Let's use this blog to share ideas for games we can create and distribute over the web using Flash. Not just ideas, but also (eventually) images, sound effects, music, etc. Games to jointly create and to own and to use on web sites, portfolios, whatever. I think at best it could generate revenue and at worst, it'll be fun.

Here's what we can do:

1. A game playable over any web browser, with a centralized high score list.
2. Animated sprites with multiple states.
2. Use of the keyboard and mouse.
3. Photoshop graphics with transparency
1. WAV and MP3 sound effects and audio

We should be able to make a pretty kickass game between us. Anyone have a game idea, or a theme? Let's collaborate, bitches.
